According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), since 2023 there have been “over 5,330 settler attacks resulting in casualties, property damage or both.”

The officers had been in a vehicle at the junction gate, when a civilian vehicle came from the direction of the West Bank and attempted to pass through and enter Israeli territory.

A UN inquiry reported last month that settler attacks on Palestinian villages and agricultural land had surged since 2023, rising by 130%.

According to the farm's owners, the Palestinian trespassed onto their property and attempted to attack the resident when the farmer approached him to investigate the situation. 

France is seeking to increase pressure on Israel through national sanctions over West Bank violence, European diplomats said.

Evidence and testimony were collected at the scene, and police have begun searching for the suspect.
