Competing views on Hamas, the role of regional mediators, and the absence of Palestinian political representation at the executive level are shaping the next phase.

One essential element remains conspicuously absent from the new peace plan: a credible, empowered Palestinian representative capable of engaging Israel directly.

There are over 60 million tons of rubble in Gaza, the UN official claimed, enough to nearly fill 3,000 container ships, and enough for everyone in Gaza to be surrounded by 30 tons of it on average.

US officials stated that President Trump sent out invitations to the countries he personally selected to be on the Gaza Board of Peace.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that "there is no plan" by Iran to hang people. "Hanging is out of the question."

The interim governing body for Gaza will have 15 members, according to Witkoff, though their names have not been confirmed. It remains unclear how Hamas will be disarmed as required by the plan.
