Iranian authorities blame the food poisoning outbreak on water-borne bacteria. Iran’s student union is not buying the explanation. 

The Russian defense ministry said a number of Russian servicemen had been taken to a military hospital with signs of serious poisoning on July 31.

Children are especially prone to lead poisoning due to the fact that their bodies are still developing therefore absorb higher quantities of ingested lead. 

Young children under the age of 12 usually ingest cannabis unintentionally. They mistake “edible” marijuana-like gummy bears, brownies, lollipops, etc -for regular food and eat it.

The cause of the deaths is currently unknown but there has been speculation by locals that the patrons were either exposed to some form of poison or killed in a stampede.

Almost all accidental poisonings - mostly from medications and exposure to chemicals - occur at home, according to the National Poison Information Center.

There is as of yet no explanation for their deaths, though poisoning may seem likely. Investigations and autopsies are ongoing.
