The drill's goal is to promote convergence and coordination in joint measures to counter activities that threaten maritime security and safety, and to combat maritime terrorism.

According to Fars, the IRGC Navy commander declared that, "The weapon that reaches the battlefield on the day of war is different from what is displayed in exercises."

The drill, named "Smart Control of Hormuz Strait," aimed at testing the readiness of operational forces in the face of "possible security and military threats," Tasnim reported.
