Jerusalem Film Festival

Through heartbreaking documentaries and dramas, Israeli movies explore the war and the future.

The festival awarded prizes totaling approximately NIS 1 million across its Israeli and international competitions, as well as its short-film, experimental-film, and industry programs.

“This country is full of remarkable talent… Israel has everything a major film industry needs: great film schools, a strong tradition, outstanding artists," said Israeli director Avi Nesher.

The feeling the film evokes is similar to Oppenheimer, Nolan’s last film, another portrait of a disillusioned hero who is haunted by how his work has bolstered military force and caused suffering.

Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa, one of the most acclaimed filmmakers working today, was the festival’s guest of honor and received an award in recognition of his cinematic achievements.

The 43rd edition of the festival, which was founded to bring the best international films to Israel and to promote Israeli filmmaking, will be at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and the Lev Smadar theater

The international lineup, which includes feature films, documentaries, animated films, and experimental works, will be screened in the Jerusalem Cinematheque and at Lev Smadar.

Unquestionably the best-acted movie this year, 'Sentimental Value' is a character-driven, complex story about the drama of an extremely dysfunctional show-business family.

This year, the festival's Israeli program includes a wide-ranging lineup of feature films, documentaries, shorts, experimental films, and restored classics.

"Tell Me Everything" had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, marking the first time in a decade that a full-length Israeli feature film was included in that festival.
