Arnon Bar-David, the longtime chairman of Israel’s largest labor federation, became the central figure in a sweeping corruption investigation that came to light in November. 

As part of Israel’s legal system and political structure, they are essential to the way the government works. The challenge, however, is to understand how decisions are made and by whom.

The conditions of the suspension include barring Bar-David from contacting individuals tied to the ongoing corruption investigation, and forcing him to keep physical distance from Histadrut bodies.

Per reports, the official, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, is suspected of election-bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

The man, who was considered close with Bar-David's family and oversaw construction work at their home, was found dead in the Ben Shemen Forest in central Israel.

Histadrut leader Arnon Bar-David faces a fraud and bribery investigation and will be released to house arrest. The probe focuses on preferential treatment in union-related insurance dealings.

According to the report, police are examining suspicions that Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David and the owner of a major insurance company sought to install an associate on the board of Bank Yahav.

Over 300 individuals are reportedly under investigation for the scandal, including multiple senior figures in the union and public institutions.

He is one of several dozen key figures detained, along with eight people arrested until now, as part of the two-year-long investigation.

Police were also looking into whether senior Histadrut officials planned to sell federation assets worth millions of shekels and skim proceeds through intermediaries, according to the report.
