IDF reservists stationed in the southern Gaza Strip claimed they were subjected to extremely poor sanitary conditions at their post, according to a Monday KAN News report.
The military post has major drainage problems, which have resulted in "major sanitary hazards" and an increase in mosquitoes, flies, and mice on the premises, several reservists serving in the 7810th Battalion of the 11th "Yiftach" Brigade told KAN.
The tents that make up their sleeping quarters, as well as the dining tent and the showers, are all "rotten on the inside," the troops told KAN, and they constantly emit a foul odor.
Bitten by feral animals while on duty
What is more, the soldiers report that hundreds of feral cats and dogs roam throughout the area and have bitten soldiers who subsequently had to be evacuated and treated or inoculated for tetanus and rabies.
They also reported finding dead animal carcasses in and around their tents.
"Most of us have had about 400 days of reserve service since October 7," the soldiers told KAN. "We are not looking for pity and we do not want to abandon the mission - we are only asking for basic conditions in which we can live with dignity."
When asked for comment, the IDF told KAN that it had "begun correcting the deficiencies."
